Room Reveal: Welcome to my Master Bedroom!

After 10 months of intense renovations, I’m so excited to start showing you our home!

Just recapping from my previous post, my husband and I were hunting for a bigger space to grow into and to be able to invest in over time. We settled for a 10+ year old apartment and renovated it to fully optimize every square foot!

Fast forward to today and weeks and weeks of packing, moving, unpacking, optimizing, problem solving & styling… welcome to our master bedroom!

BEFORE:

We wanted to fully optimize the space in the bathroom, so we applied for a permit to the City of Vancouver to bump the alcove forward to make it into a flat wall, allowing the bathroom to have a little more space to have a his and her sink! We also noticed that there was little to no storage… so this is where problem solving came to play!

AFTER:

Our master isn’t a big room, it’s just big enough to fit a queen sized bed and MAYBE two side tables… Our solution was to add as much storage as possible, so we designed millwork above and around the bed! We took advantage of the alcove and made it into an accent wall… the accent wall is made up of venetian plaster!

Millwork: Designed by 1807 Design | Storage Bed: Van Gogh Designs | Pendant lights: Norburn Lighting & Co. | Bedding: Rothman & Co. | Black Accent pillows: Shop Little Design Co. | Tray: CB2 | Rug: Banner Carpets | Alcove Accent Wall: Black Venetian Plaster | Taupe Accent pillows: Homesense | Black basket: CB2

Alcove is gone! Added a flatscreen so we can watch the morning news. Left of the TV: Walk-in closet, Right: Master ensuite

TV: BestBuy | Sound bar: Sonos | Paint: Benjamin Moore “Chantalilly Lace” in Eggshell

My bedside

Cup: CB2 | Jewelry box: West Elm | Small bowl: Homesense | Straight vase: Anthropologie | Planner: Indigo Books | Photo box: Michael’s

We are trying to keep it as minimalistic as possible just to keep the space feeling clean, inviting and zen… it feels good when you live and work in a space that is not cluttered!

Hope you enjoyed my master bedroom tour! What room do you want to see next? Comment below!
